PC Connection looks like a steal at these prices, but it was even more of a steal at $6.

I guess one of the things we all have to consider right now is the likelihood of a recession and what that will do to technology purchases. The 4th quarter should be a tell-tale sign.

The next issue is pricing. PC Connection prices, while competitive, are not the best out there. And now that there are "best-price" search facilities out there, one has to wonder how many sales PC Connection will lose, and what kind of margin they'll have to give up to get the business.

Of course, they make money on their catalogs, and probably through Internet advertising. I would guess their catalog ads generate about $12M per year in revenues, but that is small compared to their sales of actual product.

I would like to see them place more emphasis on their Internet business.

The recession thing is the big wild card. I can see a lot of consumers and businesses delaying PC purchases, especially if they have bought in the last year or two. Many will rationalize that a Pentium-200 is adequate for 90 percent of the situations, and rightly so....
