Mike, digital video systems are still very
expensive when you compate it to tapes. The
current retail cost per station (kiosk) is about
$25,000 or $500,000 per system of 20 kiosks.
Actually, we are in a very early stage of
this technology and it's really not ready
for prime time yet. I expect prices to come
down 80% - 90% within the next five years.
The reason why people like the digital version
of the horse racing tapes is that it lets them
view a very large number of races without
spending the time and effort searching/loading
tapes.
I still wonder if it makes sense for a horse
racing club to deploy such a system. I guess
it depends on their ROI.
