Rich,
> Are the packages distributed in Sweden in Swedish, i.e. does > Inprise truly internationalize their distribution?
As Jeroen points out, Inprise products are only internationalized to a few languages, swedish not being among them. But since you expect all swedish developers to be fluent in English, that's really not a problem. What's more important, especially when trying to get established in enterprise tools, is local representation and support. Neither Borland or VisiGenic has had any representation in Sweden for some years, but are now establishing sales and support channels. I know some big companies that are now beginning to evaluate VisiBroker as an alternative to Orbix (IONA), even though Orbix currently has been longer in the market and also has better support in Sweden.
Even though Microsoft and IBM naturally are much bigger, I think there's an opening for Inprise. Microsoft offers purely Windows solutions, and in my opinion the IBM tools (Visual Age, ComponentBroker) are not as well integrated as the Inprise tools.
The key for Inprise really is integration: development tool, CORBA broker, and the Application Server working smoothly together.
I do believe Inprise is becoming more aggresive in Sweden and all across Europe, and that is a good sign.
Best,
