Hi Greg ..

Read an old survey (10/97) Friday. Of the people asked only 19% correctly stated that the DJIA was a collection of prices of 30 stocks. Most of the rest thought it was the name of a stock.

Now .. that would imply that most of the holders of 401k plans have no idea at all what they have invested in. Combine that with the commonly held belief that retirement funds only go up in value ..

Quarterly reports are in the mail to these people now. The period that the report will cover is for the full fall from ~9300 to ~7600. Most of the time if there has been a pullback over the period of time that was covered it has been masked by ongoing contributions .. not this time.
