Historically speaking the blue chips are still very richly valued.
For example, the Russell Index is now trading at the same level as it
was in September, 1995 when the Dow was 4500.

Sentiment may not shift on a dime. Patroller says that stocks are
the only game in town but that was true as well from 1968-82 when
the DOW never exceeded 1000.

It is very possible that we may get a very long extended trading
range. We do not strictly have to have a bull or bear market.

I agree with Paul that small caps are poised to outperform bluechips
once the bear market runs its course. After the bear market of 1990
small caps outperformed by 60% over the next three years. However,
I cannot imagine a runaway small cap market if the bluechips are
declining.

The most bullish thing going right now is fear in the marketplace.
Sentiment is on the bull's side.
