Bob, I have also thought about this. Its well known that LTCM was very into takeover arbitrage. I would think they were playing TLAB/CIEN at some point. But I think the bulk of their loss was due to currency plays.

In any event, you are right. If a lot of this selling was related to LTCM, they we should expect a bounce soon.

I am concerned, though, that CIEN failed to mount any rally on Friday, a day when bargain hunters were out in full force.
