Commercial computer hardware, I believe, will experience slowing growth.

On the other hand, I expect that defense contractors like Lockheed Martin, Allied Signal and even Raytheon will be fast growing concerns. Declines in defense spending have disappeared and appropriations for the military are up for the first time since '85 and will continue to increase as we enter a world with threats from a much larger number of smaller enemies.

These threats will require sophisticated hardware and software including urban robotics and widely dispersed sensors for recon and targeting. I plan to begin accumulating shares in these companies which are largely system integrators and smaller subcontractors as well.

I like TRW because it has the leadership in the development of space based ballistic missile defense systems including the development of a laser that can destroy them. I believe that this capabilty is sorely needed for our country.
