"Where In The World Is Truman San Diego?"

Amadeus and our threads. As a jaded devotee of Moneytalk and the Bob threads I have noticed a parallel between this excellent play and the drama being played out on this and other boards. As you recall, the play tells the story of a contemporary of Mozart named Salieri. Salieri was the court musician. He was a man of high stature but no great skill. When he became aware of the awesome talent of Mozart he became mad with jealousy, especially because of the ease and skill with which Mozart practiced his art. He swore vengenance on the great genius, and the story suggests that Salieri was even responsible for Mozart's death.
I hope the analogy is clear, but let me spell it for those who may not be following this. It is clear to me that Bob is the Mozart of the finanical media. Let anyone who doubts this compare him to his competitors: Flannigan (no offense, my favorite sub)? the goddess?, the fools? Polland? Let us not leave out of this the sharks: Wade Cook, Mr. Nasal etc. No, it cannot be debated, in the universe of the financial media Bob rises to the level of a Mozart. (Now for those fans of Marty, Ruky etc. I am not saying we don't have Beethoven's and Brahm's, only that Bob is Mozart).
Let us carry the analogy further. Anyone familiar with this and other threads has no doubt noticed the terrible anger and resentment leveled at Bob recently. As there can be no logical reason for this, we must conclude it is a madness. I contend that the madness possessing these critics is the same madness that afflicted poor Salieri: I refer to the madness of jealousy. These people have suffered for years the knowledge that their skills pale in comparison to Bob's. The loathe him for his market acumen. They loathe him for the job he does educating the public in investing fundamentals. The loathe him all the more for the skillful ease with which he accomplishes these tasks. These poor fools are now pouring from the woodwork publicly attacking Bob, venting their pent up frustrations, hoping at long last that their foe will be vanquished by the market. How sad, truly sad. One shudders to think of the trauma they will suffer if the market moves as Bob's analysis suggests.
A final element in this analogy. In the play, it is Salieri who is responsible for Mozart's death. A terrible loss for the world for which Salieri suffered eternal torment. There are suggestions that Bob may not renew with ABC. I would hope that if Bob does not renew, if we are to lose the Mozart of Money, it will not be because of the ravings of the Salieri.
