I think these brokerages literally rape investors with this kind of idiotic recommendations and swindle them out of millions of dollars. These geniuses should have seen this coming when HP was at $82+ / share only 3 months ago, but I am sure they put out a strong buy on it at that time.

I agree with the sentiment, but it is not particularly the case for HWP. HWP was massively downgraded at $80, in particular by Goldman Sachs. But not by all, mind you. Have a look:
