We used to buy "white box clones" based on acquisition price alone until we got wiser and evaluated PC's based upon the "total cost of ownership". Our IS personnel no longer waste countless hours, ordering, picking up and replacing power supplies, hard drives, SIMMs and all the other "2nd bin" parts that define whitebox clones.

More importantly, we wouldn't want to chase our tails on network incompatibility problems from these low cost PCs used as terminals. Our data is much to valuable to risk corruption. We prefer to plan and execute projects for future growth and profitability rather than waste resources on troubleshooting and correcting problems created by poor purchasing practices of the past.

I doubt that that many serious small business would risk using any consumer grade product, least of all these low cost bargain basement PCs in a network environment. IMHO
