Herb Greenberg was back on CNBC @ about 6:35 am this morning..... says that pc companies could be having problems based on the news reported Friday that Avnet's growth had slowed from 36% to 6% and that CompUsa's earnings were anemic. Said those numbers reflect poor pc company sales on both the low end and the high end. Host Bob Sellers told him that CNBC had received tons of e-mail regarding his comments last week on CPQ's "channel stuffing" to which he replied, "I didn't say that they were stuffing the channel!" He was very animated saying, "c'mon, give me a break." He also said that he had received a lot hostile e-mail from "zealous" CPQ shareholders and that they need to realize that things "could" get worse and that shareholders need to look at the possible downside instead of just the upside potential in a stock. Basically, he was scrambling and scratching for credibility, lacked believability, was not very professional or in charge of himself, and imho, he will not not impact pc shares today with his comments. In short, he came off as a jerk, grasping at straws for a story while trying to regain viewer confidence. I saw the story as an excuse to explain himself on last week's foolish comments, while standing by his basic outlook on pc makers in a more vague fashion(as today he did not focus on CPQ, but pc makers in general). I hope that if CNBC re-runs it that someone else on the thread will get to see it. Not concerned, El |
