Xyln just doesn't seem to be acting very good (especially before earnings). I am looking at selling my long position to enter in at a lower price next month. I just picked up some CIEN as my XYLAN alternative. Stock is at it's multi-year low (like Xylan) but should earn $0.68 next year(worst case).

When the dust settles, I would like to own both companies as CIEN and XYLAN should participate in a Santa Clause and year end rally.

Good luck with your position. I have been a long term XYLAN holder for more than two years, selling the stock in the high 20's and buying below $15. This time, I think XYLAN could see one more blow off to the down side.
