okee-boy,

The way I read it, the initial patent application from way back didn't properly describe the complete process. The lack of action by the PTO indicates that whatever was described previously was not patentable.

It seems Oliff & Berridge somehow described the GRNO process in a more correct or coherent manner and it does indeed qualify for patent protection. woohoo!!.....I think. It also seems the thermal oxidizer and its use therein is a key element in the patent.

BTW, I called O & B for clarification on the _Art Unit 1764_ portion of the release but most of their attorneys were off due to the holiday. But boy was the receptionist worth the dime!!! (lovely English or Australian accent) melt melt pitter patter!!

Anyone know what the Art Unit: 1764 thing is about??

Hope my interpretation is correct. After all, the headline does say a patent was (will be) issued. We all painfully know the consequences of the lack of accuracy when reporting events.

Hope that helped.
