Alcatel and IBM both represent about 20% of Xylan's
business. Alcatel apparently owns 5% of Xylan and
IBM has the right to purchase 5%. I'm not sure how
much they currently own.

Someone was obviously selling today. I wonder if
it was ALA selling their shares to someone i.e. LU?
The ALA purchase of Packet Engines has been a strong
rumor for some time. Xylan had to of known. Does ALA
and IBM know of a pending merger re Xylan?

Or could it be Montgomery and their clients shorting
the stock hoping to buy it back cheaper another day.
Montgomery has had a hold on Xylan for ages and has
been rumored to be active in the short campaign along
with the Tiger Fund.

I've also been told the hedge fund Long Term Capital
had to unload Xylan shares that fueled the fall to 9-5/8.
Could other hedge funds be selling?

Alot of questions, not many answers. Any insights?

Thanks, John
