Much more feasible (in terms of convincing patients to use them)and useful would be transdermal biosensing devices that could be worn like a wrist watch. Yes, storing the information so gathered on the smart card for batch interrogation would be ingenious indeed. bit like intelligent pacemakers are today - just much cooler!

Sorry if the answer to this question is obvious, but what energy source would such a subcutaneous device utilise? (I'm assuming these biosensors would be quite small and not battery driven).
