Cheeky Kid,

No, you and Toby both have it all wrong! They put little green light on the monitor, designing to grow progressively brighter, thus producing a state of intense photophobia to discourage us from sitting in front of our computers too long and learning too much about them. Well, I fixed them! I put opaque tape over my little green light! Tinfoil works real good, too.
