Ish,
Guess being a real man and being a wise man ain't the same... which is what the women have been telling us all along.
75 would be pretty damned fast in a boat. Faster than I'd want to go, unless the water was real flat and I was very sure there were no floating obstacles around. How would it steer at that speed? We run around now and then on a fast rescue boat designed for open sea work, rigid inflatable with two big outboards. Turns on a dime, great in waves, does about 45 knots, but not very comfortable.
I used to fish a lot for bass. There's an upland lake south of Manila that was stocked about 15 years ago, there's supposed to be a fair number there. Always meant to get down there, but hard to find the right lures; mostly saltwater stuff around here.
The kayak is fiberglass, which is what most of the good ones are nowadays. A lot more durable than a covered wood boat, especially when there's coral around. Runs really nice in open water, lots of fun in waves, but not really maneuverable enough for poking around in mangroves. Always a tradeoff - the long thin boats run better on open water, the short ones turn better. I use the white water boat for mangrove stuff - what I really need is another boat, which will make 4. These things get out of hand real easy.
