I talked to Doug Maclean, the president of MKD.
They are on final negotiations for the lease of a building on 3000 block East Broadway. They have accepted in principle, but haven't actually signed yet. Anybody from Vancouver out there that can check this out?
The other thing Doug said that was kind of interesting was that this was finally at a point that they could promote it. There is a signed deal, and they have a firm date for startup. The equipment is being delivered in the first week of November. He said they were working with a couple of firms that would do the promotion, and that it would start very soon. For those of you who aren't familiar with the way Doug does business, he refuses to promote anything until it is a done deal, and there is no risk of being caught falsely hyping a deal.
I talked to Laurie later, and he was excited because he had just heard from Fairchild. They had placed the order for the single most expensive component for the machine, a $300,000 aluminum atomizer, or something like that. It deposits the reflective coating on the CD. Apparently the 1 month delivery of the final equipment is very favorable, because the lead time is usually 4 months.
Things are happening. Slower than I'd like, but they are happening.
