Itronics Receives Special Recognition From Nevada's Governor Miller
RENO, Nevada--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 13, 1998--Itronics Inc. (OTC BB:ITRO - news) announced today that Itronics Metallurgical, Inc., its wholly owned subsidiary has been selected for special recognition by Governor Bob Miller at the upcoming 15th annual Governor's Industry Appreciation Luncheon in Sparks, Nevada, on Oct. 21.
''We are one of Nevada's 'homegrown' technology research and development companies,'' said Dr. John Whitney, Itronics' president and CEO.
''We meet the criteria of this special award, including creating primary jobs within Nevada and extending our market beyond the state's borders,'' Whitney said. ''Itronics is a good example in Nevada of how the application of science to create a technology can lead to businesses that diversify the state's economy.''
Itronics uses a proprietary process to recycle used photo chemicals, recovering virtually 100 percent of the contained heavy metals, including silver, and manufacturing the demetallized photoliquids into a line of top-rated fertilizer products that are certifiably ''heavy metal'' free.
In a letter to Itronics, Governor Miller praised the company as one of the ''northern Nevada primary businesses that have fueled our continued overall economic growth.'' The Governor cited Itronics as ''tangible proof that our economic diversification efforts are working.''
''Our employees are pleased by this special recognition and Itronics looks forward to continued expansion. We believe Reno, Nevada is an excellent headquarters for our company, which we hope soon will provide Gold 'n Gro liquid fertilizer throughout the United States,'' Whitney said. More than 1,200 attended last year's special recognition lunches.
Itronics began its research in 1986 when officials of Reno and Sparks, Nevada, contacted Whitney concerning silver contamination from photochemistry, which was being discharged into Reno/Sparks sewers and subsequently into the Truckee River.
''We have worked with Nevada environmental officials for the permits needed to develop our plant. We are one of the state's leading process technology development companies and a world leader in photochemical recycling,'' Whitney said.
Itronics Inc. is the world's only fully integrated photochemical recycling company. Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, it specializes in recycling technology development, photochemical recycling, silver refining, fertilizer manufacturing and technical services for the mining and recycling industries.
