You're quite right, Richard, it could, and... this is another good example of how, as Zeev puts it, we're still partly in the "orion-peeling" stage. Determining optimum mesh for the grind is the sort of basic research that all the dirts could be sharing amongst themselves with a cooperative effort at R&D. Information such as optimum mesh grind would be of benefit to all; there are, I am sure, other basic optimums which, if known, would benefit all.
