Harvey, all, re LWIN and ''In the United States and selected other parts of the world, we believe there is a strong potential for a combined Wireless Local Loop (WLL) limited mobility service targeted to the mass consumer market,'' said Harvey P. White, chairman and CEO of Leap Wireless. ''This is the first step towards determining the potential of this market, and we will continue to look at opportunities to acquire additional spectrum in the future.''

This is a very interesting comment by Harvey White, and may partly reveal some of his motivation in taking on the challenge of LWIN. During one of the QCOM conference calls early this year he made a comment to the effect that he felt that WLL may be a much, much bigger opportunity than most people realize. Something about the way he said it got me to thinking he was NOT talking about third world countries. Personally, I am dying for the day when I can tell BellSouth to go stuff it, and I'd bet there are many who feel the same. Can any of the engineers out there tell me what it would take for, say, Sprint PCS to offer WLL service on their existing cdmaOne network?
