A New Financial Markets Analysis --By Brown Brothers Harriman 10/13/98 -We are raising our intermediate-term (6 month outlook) to "strongly bullish" from "moderately bullish." -Now that the stock market has recorded two solid days on the upside following the 10/8/98 test of the August low, we believe that the test can be considered a success. -We expect that the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrials are headed for new highs in the first half of 1999. -By far the most positive factor for stocks is the ongoing increase in our composite liquidity index, which is being driven by rapid increases in M2 money supply growth. -Technically, the major preconditions for a major advance are in place (i.e., the market is extremely oversold and investor sentiment is excessively bearish).
