Has anyone considered that management may have its head up its butt far enough that they decided NOT to prewarn because of their fear as to what it would do to an already rapidly falling stock price?

All these "reasons" for pulling out of the Alex Brown Conf might sound good - but the fact of the matter they are "tipping the market" just by pulling out. At least that will be the perception.

The WILL have to blow away consensus EPS on the 20th to just begin to bring the stock price back. If they only just make earnings it will not be enough to keep the stock from falling further. It will be too little too late.

So, I did the only prudent thing one can do in this situation: I shorted PSFT today at 18 3/4. I think we will see 15 this week.

Of course, this is only IMHO - if I am wrong, I will lose a bunch of money :-(

Good luck to all,

Prof
