Has anyone used PC power supplies to run external peripherals?

I now have an external zip drive, external 4-point surround speakers, external DSL modem (more on that later), ethernet hub, and a few other devices which all have huge, lossy power bricks and which all take either 5 or 12 VDC. They are hard to plug into my 1904 era outlets, even with multiple surge protectors, and they leave a jungle of cords.

I also have a 235 W PS in my tower that never comes close to being fully tapped out via my single 2.0 volt celeron 5400 IDE drive configuration. Since it supplies both 5 and 12 VDC already, and is much more efficient than the power bricks, the natural solution would seem to be to tap that power for use on the DC devices.

I've been tempted by a device that Computer Geeks list at onsale onsale.com
that uses the Pc's PS to supply DC votage from 3-12 V, but I can't get them to answer e-mails about it.

Has anyone tried this? Any idea where I'd pick up some extra DC input jacks that would fit the bill for this? I could cannabize some power bricks for it, but would have to do that.

Any thoughts, experiences appreicated.
