Sam : Those guys must be short and can't understand why the market hasn't gone down in response to their wishes! Like the goldbugs couldn't understand why the POG wasn't $350 last week already.

The thing I don't understand is why the Dow isn't 5000 already. Not one single person on any thread I read (or anywhere else, for that matter) is optimistic. Yet the market doesn't fall. Does the Fed own ALL the shares? Is the whole thing just a conspiracy against the judgment of ordinary people?

No-one can say whether 1929 will recur, or it won't. But one thing I do know and that is that the "experts" don't know. Nor will they be able to do anything about it if it does.

Meanwhile, we should just keep up our sense of humor. And our optimism --- even if it's misplaced.

PS. I live in South Africa, a country run today by people who never went to school and who received whatever education they have in jail. Yet they have learned, if you want to receive, just hold out your hands and you will! Some American will doubtless come by and put some money in them. So you see, things can't be so bad in America.
