TA,

Looks like your S&P 1000 fizzle is holding here--I am a little concerned about the supposed recovery and fix in Japan. Will have to wait and see on that one. They almost never get it right. When the market starts shrugging off good news, watch out!!

In looking for shorts, the ones that have already been taken out and shot are not necessarily best longer term, though they may continue trend in the short term. My pick here would be New York retailers who cater to the Wall Street crowd. Lots of high paid folks out of work there. No more cigars and Central Park apartments for some of them at least!

Your focus on shorts here meets with my complete approval if that means anything. I think that gold has finally bottomed, but there could be some choppy action if the bonds and market rally here. Interesting market, to say the least.

Strangely, I am hearing less from the 10,000 by 2000 crowd and less from the "stay fully invested" folks, and I think that the investing public has a certain pain threshold which will soon begin to pinch. If you are W. Buffet, you might begin to find relative bargains, but probably not just yet. My thought is that things could get realy interesting for daytraders like you all here!

Do your technical best and keep me and the good folks here on the right track.

Hope I did not offend with my little joke on missing the S&P by 5 points--I consider that highly accurate, and it was tongue in cheek!

Best to you and all,

JR
