MOBILE MATTERS (C) 1995-8 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Ericsson has released a mobile phone which has support for GSM900 and
GSM1900 cellular networks - allowing the phone to be used in the United
States as well as other GSM-friendly countries. The I 888 World dual band
phone for GSM 900/1900 frequencies has a built-in modem and a travel
charger with five different plugs for international compatibility. The phone
features an active flip and supports GSM phase 2 services including
conference call and alternate Line. The phone is expected to be available at
the end of 1998. Ericsson has also introduced its S868 GSM Phase 2 dual
band mobile phone. Operating on both GSM 900 and GSM 1800
networks, the phone is intended to improve international roaming and
increase call efficiency. The S868 with EFR speech coding has 6 hours and
40 minutes of call time, 120 minutes of standby time and is expected to be
available from mid-October. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
