Business process software is not a commodity, however it might be better if it were - then PSFT could have Dell's multiple.

Tomabre - good catch on the Bloomberg article. thanks. with any luck , PSFT is fed up with the games the street plays and is opting for a more populist approach going forward. that would make me very happy, especially if it started a trend.

Anyway, after continuing to digest the information, I still think it's highly unlikely that PeopleSoft will not meet expectations for the quarter. If there is any bad news to be delivered, it would more likely be related to forward looking projections.

P.S. to expand on the multiple that PSFT had in "THE OLD" market: keep in mind that the old market was not only discounting the possibility of a recession next year, there were some that believed that we would never have another recession. In "THE NEW" market, I think fair value for PeopleSoft is around 30 to 35.
