<<<Pat, with all respect, have the MF's ever made any bad investment decision at all? No offense, but it seems all I hear are the great successful stories from you people.>>>

Engineer --

1) MFs are individuals just like the next guy. The Motley Fool portfolio is something else entirely.

2) As an individual I've made every mistake in the book---more than once. I'd be embarrassed to name them all. I'm still staring at some losses wondering whether to sell tomorrow.

3) As a market timer, I'm terrible. I've been known to sell at the open and have the same stock go up 20% an hour later. I almost always sell too soon. Even in ZITL, I was hedged with a 7 pt. gain from 27 to 72. Did I feel stupid? You bet.

4) I try to keep in mind what George Soros once said, "It's not how much you win or lose, but that you win more than you lose." This keeps my losses in perspective and helps me find an element of emotional equilibrium.

5) As for my own investment theories, I have but one and it certainly won't fill a book: buy low, sell high. Why I have to make it so difficult, I'll never know.

Regards,

Pat
