>>Zoltan, my friend, I laughed aloud when I read that. The Reagan administration covertly sold arms to an enemy nation in order to illegally finance a mercenary war against a small country of Indian peasants, defying the legitimate vote and will of Congress. Then it shredded a bunch of documents and allegedly lied about the matter before Congress.

That's because you have no knowledge of history or the law. Now your are just laughed at.

The Boland Amendment could not bind President Reagan's Executive powers any more than the Neutrality Acts could bind FDR. Actually, while FDR clearly violated those laws, Reagan had the expanded authority of the Executive that had accrued during the Cold War. Congress could pass any law it wanted, but Reagan had no responsibility to comply, especially when it would have stymied his very successful Central American policy.

btw, the pollsters told us Reagan had failed and the Sandinistas were loved. But the anti Sandinistas won in a remarkable landslide - remarkable because it proved all the Dems and journalists and pollsters wrong.

We know that most journalists are "the uninformed who write for the illiterate". Or is it the other way around?
