Hi Dale+Com Dev Gets C$8.6M Research, Develop Pact From Canada Govt CAMBRIDGE, Ont. (Dow Jones)--The Canadian government said it has awarded an C$8.6 million research and development contract to Com Dev International Ltd. (T.CDV) to further develop Canadian satellite-communications technology. In a news release, the government said the contract will involve the Com Dev Space Group in the development of a military satellite-communications payload subsystem based on the company's new Beam*Link processor technology. It said this technology could increase the efficiency of the bandwidth of military communications satellites by about 30%. The government said that, by providing more space for carrying information, this technology could also increase the revenue-generating ability of commercial communications satellites. It said it estimates this contract will generate or sustain 80 positions over the life of the project. As reported, the government announced that it had awarded the contract to Com Dev on Oct. 9, and said it would provide further details Tuesday.
