That's a real eye-popper.
If Celeron and K6 accounted for 8 Million X86 CPU's in Q3, total X86's must have far exceeded the IDC forecast.
Considering CeleronA didn't start shipping till mid August, the 4 Million units is very impressive. Do you think Celeron will be even greater unit volume in Q4?
And considering Intel maintained it's ASP in the quarter, (and Intel indicated Xeon's weren't a large factor in Q3, nor was PPro), is it fair to assume that PII also greatly exceeded expectations?
I think Intel alone must have shipped at least 20 Million CPU's in the quarter. (Figure 75% revenue in CPU's at $250 ASP).
Look's like the PC market is a lot healthier than IDC forecasts.
Glad to be wrong on this one. ;-)
