If there are 1.7billion's worth less shares out there the same eps is spread among fewer shareholders. The whole point is to push the price up rather than pay dividends because in the US the CGT rate is lower than the income tax rate. The only negative might be to wonder why they can't find any great investment opportunities inside the company for these funds. David
