Richard, thanks for your reply. I am glad to see all the posts in response to my original.

To answer your questions (and pose some more):

I plan to run the study only on the Dow 30. This is due to time constraints and its popularity.

I don't know what periods I will use on the indicators, especially since I don't even know what indicators I will use. I hope to use popular parameters, and do not plan on testing different periods.

My goal is not to provide a comprehensive analysis on all technical analysis. It is meant to take a cursory look at whether or not popular technical indicators are effective in predicting price movement.

I don't know which data service to use. Nor do I plan on using fundamentals as any part of the project.

Note that if I knew the answers, I would be rich, drop out of high school, and certainly not pose these questions on the thread! The questions that you have asked are the main reason I have posted here.

I appreciate the response. Any more thoughts on indicators to use, and the periods of them?
