remember... by the time it is obvious to get out... it is too late. One must look
forward in mkts. Hope you've enjoyed these last couple days of floundering around
instead of just dropping. (G)

<Confessions of a retired bear>
As I understand, you had some big puts on Dell @ 25,30,35,40,45 and you started shorting @ 50. Can you afford to be wrong on Dell again? You know this dude lost close to 30 million dollars "selling naked calls" on Dell last year(30 mil. was the figure someone calculated that this dude McNamb musta lost had he executed all his trades as claimed on this thread). I made some little profits shorting Dell and covered when I got stopped out at 10%loss a few times.
I shudder to think what might have happened if I had stayed with my short over the past year. My portfolio would have been wiped out! I wouldn't be destitute since I have other resources(education, house, retirement plan etc.) but my years of saving and investing would have been lost.
Be good now. Take a loss and move on if Dell goes up a lot. On the other hand, I agree with you that if Dell shows ANY signs of weakness in the market, earnings, outlook etc. , watch out below! The good news is already built into the price of this stock. It has to surprise the whisper to go up. Ofcourse that's what Dell has been doing the past 3 years!
