Compression Technologies Inc. (CTE) was founded in 1991, and since that time has focused on developing and bringing to market serial data compression and encryption units that optimize the performance of data transmission in Wide Area Networks (WANs). It operates through a wholly owned subsidiary, Compression Communications Corp. (CCCorp.). CTE went public in 1994 to raise additional equity to support product development. July 17, 1996 CTE changed its name to Compression & Encryption Technologies Inc. and effected a share consolidation of 5 old shares to one new share. The result today is five commercial products and an engineering team that is constantly working on new ideas and designs. CETI has a strong Board with extensive experience in the industry.
CCCorp's products offer solid value to users. They compress data, typically by a factor of four, by sending short "tokens" in place of the most common patterns in the data. Virtually all data has patterns, and an average data stream from a typical office can be shrunk by a factor of four. This saves the customer money on expensive data links; more data can be sent over a given line size. Since over 80% of the cost of operating a wide area network is third party telecommunication charges, savings are substantial. Paybacks for CCCorp's units are less than one year in North America, less than six months in Europe (where line charges are higher), and less than one month on costly satellite links!
CCCorp's products also provide security to users, by incorporating sophisticated encryption for data going over WANs. Data interception and misuse is a growing concern to network managers, particularly with the growth in switched services such as Frame Relay. CCCorp makes the only units that put compression and encryption in the same device, a real savings for customers. CCCorp markets its products around the world through a network of distributors. Our current coverage includes North and South America, Europe, India, and Southeast Asia. Sales have been particularly strong in Europe, where there is a high demand for networking and telecommunications costs are high. 100 units have been installed in a Swiss based interbanking network, while other applications are on single data lines. Sales momentum is good, with average sales in the first half of fiscal 1996 more than double 1995. CCCorp has emphasized supporting and expanding its European sales channel in 1996 to sustain this momentum.
Sincerely; Sheila Parnell Administrative Marketing Assistant Phone: 403-463-5310 Fax: 403-465-2113 E-mail: sheila@compression.com |
