World Championship Wrestling More Than A Match For QVC;WCW Storms Through QVC With Slammin' Success
WEST CHESTER, Pa., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- In a match that will go down as the most successful wrestling event in TV shopping history, QVC got into the action and burned up the air waves with its first-ever, "World Championship Wrestling" show, TUES., Oct. 13, 1998 (8:00 - 9:00 p.m., ET). As special guest Kevin Nash, leader of the nWo Red Wolfpac, entered the arena through a cloud of smoke, and WCW World Heavyweight Champion "Goldberg" burst into the ring, QVC fans rampaged for more than 23,000 units of licensed WCW/nWo merchandise in just one hour.
Three slammin' sellouts included a Kevin Nash autographed nWo T-shirt with mug, a 1999 WCW/nWo Calendar, featuring such wrestlers as Goldberg, Giant, Sting and Diamond Dallas Page, and a limited edition WCW 12-piece 1:64 Scale Die-Cast Car Collection. Hosted by QVC's Rick Domeier, the knock-out show also featured two national introductions: "Goldberg" WCW Heavyweight Champion T-Shirt and Halloween Havoc T-shirt, both available only on QVC and at WCW's Pay-Per-View event Halloween Havoc, October 25, live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With over 3,300 new customers having joined the first-night frenzy, QVC plans to offer its fans future "World Championship Wrestling" shows with exciting national introductions and special guests.
