The point I was trying to make is that Q will probably not be limited or prohibited from building or licensing 3g systems. However, there is a very real possibility of such an injunction against anyone attempting to implement a W-CDMA system.

While you may be right in saying that cdma2000 will be locked out of Europe, I humbly offer that the markets in Asia, (parts), North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, India, Australia, New Zealand, still represent a significant opportunity.

As far as cost goes, from what I have read, the upgrade from IS-95 to cdma2000 would be much, much, cheaper than a GSM or TDMA upgrade to W-CDMA due to the nature of the air interface for each of the 2g systems.

And I'm done arguing about IPR. Let the chips fall where they may. My money is where my mouth is.

Regards,

mmeggs
