The value of the CAPSCAN?

The CAPSCAN will be the flagship product for Environmental Digital Systems. Currently the CAPSCAN is still being shown as a hand made model only, as prototypes are being developed. The prototypes will be finished soon and they should work better, at a much lower cost, than anything any competitors are currently offering. That is not going to change. Why is that?

No one else has patents, and patents pending, allowing them to place a similar device to keep inventory records through the fill pipe of a UST.

$2150 buys a service station owner 4 CAPSCAN devices and a handheld computer that will make keeping inventory records and monitoring these tanks far easier than anything else available.

The CAPSCAN is guaranteed for two years and a warranty agreement for a third year is apparently available. Petroleum products are highly corrosive and no method of monitoring these tanks is going to last forever but three years actually outlasts certain components of the competition products which must be replaced at a much greater cost.

In fact the cost of replacing one single probe installed by one of the competitors products could run as much as 4 CAPSCANs.

The competition has to replace these probes on an average of one probe for every tank after two years. So you see when the competition sets up a monitoring system for one tank it costs 3 times as much for an initial installation than for 4 CAPSCANs. Then when it's time to replace that single probe you could buy four more CAPSCANs.

I talked to Jim Crehan again today and I remain convinced we have a great investment here in EVDS. The Atlanta show was another huge success for the company. It's true that the prototypes are not yet done but they will be soon. You see the company's engineers are designing several incarnations of the CAPSCAN device and ultimately these new designs will be hugely successful. The company's presence in at the Atlanta show has resulted in even more pre-orders. It's true that these cannot be considered purchase orders because everyone wants to see the finished product. It's my opinion that interest in this product will only increase once the prototypes are done in the very near future. There is a very real need for this product.

After all, in my opinion, there really isn't any competition at any price.

Regards, Jeff
