For 32 years i was the Neurosurgeon for the University of Alabama football team {National Champions X 3} and i would hate to have to decide in a football field wether i use this type of medication in athletes with concussions. Though i mention this there is a great deal of research going on on the multiple side effects of concussions and studies have shown that there is more than just a temporary loss of consciousness or alteration of awareness, long term studies show increased difficulties at the psychological level with increased job loss, divorce rates and behavioral problems in individuals with simple concussions. By definition a concussion is only a physiological alteration of function without pathological changes on brain,so probably there are no changes in brain cells that need HU-211 protection. Regardless of this i would love to be proven wrong, that is why i mentioned the late behavioral aspects of concussions. If those studies are true then something occurred in the brains of these individuals to cause the after effects of trauma. A study of this should be relatively simple and evaluation of posttraumatic memory disorders may be the way to go.
