re: the gold trader W., Yes, that is the view of the trader, but should it be also the view of the "investor"? Yes, I run a (far to small) trading account, but as with most of the US public, my greater investment is in my IRA(s). I can only wonder what possesses all these people to believe that gold will never again have a worth greater than it has today, or that there will never again be an environment in which gold is a good investment.
The great problem is that all these "long term investors" are taking investment advice from people who consider the long term to be tomorrow(or perhaps this afternoon). But as to the mantra, a mantra is often at the center of a cult, often the mantra can become a religion. Today, the cult of the gold bug is growing and gaining converts(though most today on Wall Street spell that "perverts"). S.I. is often near the cutting edge of investment styles. Have you noted how many newer posters we have? Next time, I make the call for each believer to reach down in our jeans and pull out the money to buy a single coin, the volume will rock the market on its heels! I only want to hear a new mantra coming from those that in the past have said "Buy no gold"(those who have attempted to manipulate the market for their own profit). That must now be "Put 5-10% into the metals" "Put 5-10% into metals". "Put 5-10% into metals"..... They must not only stop their wrong doing, they must now right the wrong! rh |
