State Attorney General Nixon has gone on record favoring the dismantling of the court ordered busing of students (which has been in effect for years) for the purpose of desegregation.

The city schools in Kansas City and St. Louis are/were absolutely atrocious (due to a dwindling tax base) that years ago, the NAACP filed a court case arguing the schools were de facto segregated and the court's remedy was to take the inner city students and bus them to the outlying county districts. County students could "bus" into the city, but as you can well imagine, there were few takers.

The busing has cost billions and the city schools are in worse condition now, than when it started. It's been a complete failure. Nixon as AG worked to have it dismantled. That's why he doesn't have a snowflakes' chance and Clinton isn't going to bother wasting his time here. The core Clinton supporters are black in St. Louis and his appearance would do nothing to bring in their vote. So my point was it could only look bad for Clinton to be stumping here for Nixon with the NAACP protesting in the background.
