Former Artesyn Executive Joins Ancor Communications

New Vice President to Lead Manufacturing

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Ancor Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANCR), a leading provider of Fibre Channel switches, announced today that Max Davis has joined the company as vice president of manufacturing.

Davis will direct Ancor's manufacturing contractors to ensure the GigWorks(TM) MKII switches are the highest-quality, lowest-cost available. He joins Ancor from Artesyn Technologies, Boca Raton, Fla. (formerly Zytec, Minneapolis, Minn.), where as vice president of manufacturing, he was responsible for worldwide manufacturing strategies, capacity planning and operations in four locations in the U.S. and Mexico. Under Davis' leadership, Zytec, a 1991 Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award winner, grew from $150 million to $264 million in revenue, and improved on-time product delivery.

Davis has a long career in manufacturing in high-tech growth companies, including 19 years at Hewlett-Packard, where in Roseville, Calif., he introduced world-class computer terminal products built on a highly automated production line. Davis also held executive manufacturing positions with Loredan Biomedical Inc., Outbound Systems Inc., and Thomas Group Inc.

Cal Nelson, Ancor President said, "Max's experience in delivering world-class quality at a controlled cost helps Ancor be the kind of partner leading OEMs demand."
