"The Nextel's business plan is largely based on an assumption that their subscribers will use both voice and SMR services. This is not happening."

I was referring to Nextel's apparent inability to sell their cellular services outside their digital SMR niche - something that I predicted would happen months ago.

Here's what Akerson said on this morning's conference call: 43% of air minutes per user were cellular vs. 40% the previous quarter. And the DC usage was 57% this qtr. vs. 60% in the 2nd qtr.

Comparing flate-rate SMR air minutes to per-minute cellular is misleading at best.

Akerson said that NXTL has ongoing talks with the FCC regarding 900 mhz.

Is this the same Akerson who has been telling investors Nextel had sufficient network capacity in the 800MHz band for both the cellular and SMR?
