think waht happened to manual shift cars when automatic transmission cars became available. They were easier to use, but not necessary. Auto transmissions quickly became the status symbol. and
intel will mereley mention in their adds that buying an x86 chip without mmx is buying obsolete technology with no link to the future.


Considering the only MMX enabled pentium benchmarked so far showed about 10% improvement on non-MMX apps, this will place the P55C on almost equal footing with the 6x86. Kudos to the Intel design team for the valiant effort. I will let your confused analogy die on its own lack of merits.

Well, considering prices are rising on P166+s and P200+s this would indicate shortages.
