<<I can tell you in my opinion they are VERY LONG RANGE thinkers. They dont seem to feel the pressure to create value for shareholders on every tic of the market but over years they seem to make tremendous strides.>>

I agree. Separate from the direct issue of Ericy/Qcom IPR issues and wishing best to both companies, I have watched Ericy over the years occasionally have people thinking, "what are they doing?", when Ericy management appears to be missing the boat on something or going off on, what appears to be, a weird tangent. Only in hindsight, does one see that they were not a bunch of lunatics acting rashly and, in fact, had executed their strategy brilliantly to the benefit of the company and the stockholders.

We once again hear from many who seem to think that Ericy management is acting insanely and to the gross detriment of shareholders. Based on history, I think it's unlikely that however this (CDMA/WCDMA/...) turns out, Ericy's likely to come out looking just fine. Unless someone's spiked the supply for the executive water fountains at Ericy HQ with a powerful, mind-altering substance, I'm not sure why it would be otherwise.

One thing that I wonder about; if Ericy's current position/actions in the situation at hand were so risky and ridiculous, I'd expect at least some management defection from the company citing disagreement with the tack Ericy's taking. While it may have occurred, I am not aware of it at this time. Would a sane person sit quietly and acceptingly if they were firmly convinced that the company was about to sail off the edge of the world?

FWIW.
