Kennelly lost another 7% in the latest poll. The movement you describe, if true, may merely represent Dems "coming home".

One thing should restore your optimism: Republicans traditionally gain support during the last three weeks of the campaign. That's because heavy Republican advertising begins neutralizing the prevailing strong bias of the media against the Reps and in favor of their party, the Dems.

Another factoid, Zogby and Morris are both on record as stating that Dems need a 3-5% edge in "likely voters" just to break even because Dem votes are more concentrated.

Morris predicts that Reps will gain 30-40 House seats and gain 5+ Senate seats. He also predicted 1994 correctly.
