Here's another excerpt about a cable TV company and it's broadband pipe into the home. When this is announced, it should be good for a short term boost to some data networkers. As you may recall, Fore Systems (FORE) played a significant role in Time Warner's Roadrunner cable modem network in Florida.

If a telephone company buys Time Warner, this will put yet another stamp of approval on coaxial solving the last mile problem to the home.

From the Wall Street Journal 10/15/98:
......Mr. Levin(CEO Time Warner) said companies ranging from AT&T Corp. to America Online Inc. were eager to do deals with Time Warner to take advantage of the tremendous carrying capacity of its cable pipeline. Mr. Levin said he expects a telephone deal with a company he didn't identify in the "near term." ........
