Don't be bothered by the quarter closing date:

Tellabs ALWAYS ends their quarters on a Friday, regardless of when
a calendar month ends. There is absolutely NO reason to be
concerned that the quarter didn't end on Sept. 30.

If you'll look at the press release under Results of Operations,
you'll notice that 1997Q3 ended on Sept. 26th!
