Not always. CSCO fell from $40 -> $20 in 3-4 months in 1994. I remember people saying the same things like you are saying to SUN. I don't even have to tell what happened in 2 years. It trades at split adjusted 6.5 times. In fact, SUNW was at $18 in mid summer of 1994 (this is before 2 splits) and now it is over 5 times.

I totally agree with your AAPL bashings. AAPL has always been a loser and will be a loser till they prove that they are a winner. But SUN so far has been a winner and will be a winner till they become losers. I haven't seen any weak sign from SUNW and that's why I am so surprised about your gloomy predictions of SUNW. May be you are a Psychic but I am not and I just go with the numbers. The numbers from SUN so far have been excellent and their revenue growth is accelerating. In fact, this Java thing is a pure luck to Sun. If this thing (I mean java chips, java station etc etc) clicks then it is a gold mine for SUN. If not it is not the end of the world for them. Even with out Java, their growth seems to be excellent.

You have mentioned in one of the threads that SUN has appreciated very less this year. (To be exact, it is 12.6% as shown in SI profiles). I take it as a good news. I am glad that I am not buying a stock with lot of bubble. I remember seeing COMS in $40's range for one year and poor me got bored and sold it for no gain just to see the stock run up 80% in next 3 months. So, may be SUNW will do the same and when it runs it will take into account the lost time in 1996. That's why it is always advisable to hold good stocks even in downtimes (COMS has taught this lesson really nicely to me).

Anyway, this posting is because I am surprised at the confidence with which you predict a DOOM for SUNW and you are proudly counting the BULLS going out of this stock. Frankly, I won't be this confident about an individual stock this much. I only know that companies have both good and bad times and if you hold on to good companies, you will be rewarded.

Oh. Well. Time will answer. I beleive that MSFT will not be the only company to make money out of the technology revolution which we are living in :-)
